More thoughtful commentary on Katrina and the aftermath is on the American Scene blog. Much of the discussion focuses on comparisons between the hurricane and 9/11 and Bush's (or conservatism's) reactions to each. Other issues include the question of the media coverage and its avoidance of mentioning race or class and why the most e-mailed stories from the New York Times don't include anything about the hurricane.
