Bosox Beat Bombers

Although a kind and loyal reader has requested it, I am incapable of posting a picture of the jubilant Red Sox or (horror of horrors) Pedro Martinez. This picture of a demoralized Derek Jeter will have to suffice as an acknowledgement of what transpired in the Bronx last night. The better team (with only a slightly lighter payroll) won. No excuses.

This loss must be as difficult as the one in 1955 to the Brooklyn Dodgers. So perhaps every half-century the Yankees succumb to their rivals.

Duncan Currie, warning against giddiness, reminds Red Sox fans that their team staged a similar comeback against the California Angles in 1986, only to lose to the Mets in the World Series.
