Do we really need Cameroon's approval? Charles Krauthammer doesn't think so. The American Scene weighs in as well. It's time to jettison the UN and even give up these outdated Cold War alliances, says Krauthammer. We should also move our bases out of Germany and into the newly liberated Eastern European countries (though Giants and Dwarfs might disagree). First, we must defeat Iraq.

Tom Friedman appears to prefer the old alliances; he wants more multilateralism. But he gives Bush points for his boldness. Maybe Freidman will someday define the distinction between what he means by diplomacy and grovelling for approval to defend oneself. We're obviously doing just fine with our friends in Eastern Europe.
