Berkowitz Rescues Wolfe

Peter Berkowitz rescues Tom Wolfe from unfriendly reviewers who don't appreciate the importance of Wolfe's topic and the skilfullness of his execution. According to Berkowitz, Wolfe captures accurately the effects of the sexual revolution on modern campus life, including what it means for intellectual life which has traditionally been linked to eros (for lack of a less ponderous word). Particularly interesting is Berkowitz's argument that the university, properly understood, is both conservative and liberal.
