Whose Wedge?

The two best newspaper pieces discussing the legal details of gay marriage are by Debra J. Saunders and Charles Krauthammer. Both of them oppose the FMA, but both of them also decry the process of judicial fiat by which the agenda is currently proceeding. If anyone is driving a "wedge," it is proponents of gay marriage happy to see one state's court do their legislative bidding. For his part, Andrew Sullivan acknowledges some of the virtues of Krauthammer's piece, but is unwilling to see that the Defense of Marriage Act will not likely be upheld, thereby allowing the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to set policy for the nation.
